Reluctantly the are no longer in
business, in their hayday they were the Rolls Royce of office furniture
based in Southall opposite the bowling alley. I think they may have sold
out to someone but not sure, but they left Southall about 25 years ago,
sorry this aint much help.

I well remember them to but
surely they moved to a new factory at Hayes Bridge in around 1955. This
stood in fromt of Vicoria Sawmills and the opposite side of the road
was James Davis (Timber) Limited.

UNIQUE CC PROJECT ON RACE
|
by nausheen (Member 10040320) on 8-Aug-2001
|
Im an assistant producer with the BBC and I was wondering if anyone
would be interested in an unusual project we are doing on race and
identity in Britain. We are looking for outgoing and thoughtful people
with interesting views on race, to take part.
We want to know: How important is your identity to you? If you could
change your race /ethnicity what would you want to experience or explore
and why?
We want to talk to white, black and asian people from urban and rural
areas and in different walks of life. We are particularly interested in
talking to Asian men and women in their 20's - 40's, as these are the
people least represented in our research to date.
A key aspect of this documentary will involve people exploring their own
world, work, and everyday life from a different racial perspective than
their own. The project will include a temporary change of identity. We
need people with a genuine sense of enquiry, who are interested in the
subject of race and who are willing to explore their thoughts and
feelings openly.
If you think you might be interested in what you would discover if you
were to temporarily change your racial identity or want to find out more
please email me: nausheen.saiyed@bbc.co.uk. Leave a daytime phone
number if you can, so I can call you. A brief description of why you are
interested will help. All calls and emails are confidential.

I would love to take part. I am
half Indian and havent seen our father for 20 years who was an origin of
nepal. I understand he was born in New Dehli. My twin Sister Sadhana
died earlier this year of HIV related illnesses and we both found it
very hard and bitter resenting our Indian heritage because of the
constant racialism and bullying. You dreamed of being pure English and
wishing why it had to be you!

in the early fifties. My name is John Brion my wife Win Brion nee
Heritage. One of my main memories of the S.Y.C is the close harmony
group called the 'Moonshiners' Johnny Veness, myself, Archie Ross, Ron
Turner, Don Kettles, Tony Marshall and others whose memory now escapes
me used to rehearse on Sunday
evenings. I don't recall any concerts at the Holy Trinity Hall unless
you are referring to the concerts/shows given by the 'Pathfinders' a
youth group closely associated with Holy Trinity Church. ... more >>
- Re: Sunday Youth Club
by maynard (Member 10063441) on 24-Mar-2002
I saw your reference to Don
Kettles and Tony Marshall. Two names I remember quite well but for
different reasons. I think Don had a sister Anne who used to I believe
belong to the Labour League of Youth who met on Monday evenings at the
Labour Club near Woolworths! Quite a buxom girl I seem to recall!
Tony I knew well, I went to school with him and he was an excellent singer. I worked with his
wife Pat for a good few years at Hayes Bridge and at that time they
were living in a big house in Dormers Wells Lane. Tony appeared in
several of the big musical shows and I remember Pat giving us some
tickets to go and see Tony with Tommy Steele. Tony also bought Tommy
Steele's first touring wagon, a VW which he had for quite a time!
I think it was a school colleague whose name was
Peter Yates who used to promote some of Tony's early shows locally. I
also remember the events at Holy Trinity Hall next to the Fire Station
which was also used by the cubs and the scouts. ... more >>

Does anyone remember the
Pioneer Club, set up I think in the early years of the war. It was also

Dormers Wells School. I started attending from 1940, and as I recall one
of the organisers was Evan Pilkington, curate at Holy
Trinity.Refreshments during the evening were organised by two red haired
sisters-sadly I cannot remember their names at this distance in time. ... more >>

VERY NICE SETTING AND OF COURSE FINE FOOD INDEED.
THE OTHER IS NAMED SHAHANSHAH SITUATED ON NORTH ROAD, TOWARDS SOUTHALL POLICE STATION. SMALLER BUT VERY, VERY NICE HOME MADE FELT FOOD & WORTH THE MONEY TOO.
HAVE EATEN AT BOTH PLACES AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BOTH OF THEM.
