    Dora, my name was Judith Humphrey. I remember Roberta Whiting, I'm sure she was in my class. Also, yes Miss Hall was rather fierce but underneath, very kind. she was brilliant to me when my father died. Also Miss Harding left me with the same love as music as with you.     judith dormers did several gilbert sullivan on stage school hall.mrs foot library english produced them she had all the photos and scripts.late 1950s.I saw one production when I started there 1960

    1968..mrs grey was miss morris secretary of girls school..must have done mikado again just after I left..was it mrs foot eng librarian doing it again with mrs cootes music...mrs foot kept all scripts photos in drawer until she died elderly..we used to visit her

I lived in Southall from 1939 thru 1960 then Hayes end until 1969. Attended Tudor Road and Dormer Wells School. Was in the Military 1951 to 1953 .     I'd be interested to help if pos - I have lived in the road where the pub was destroyed for 25 years - we were there during the riot. As it is a no-through road, alongside the canal, we were very aware that we could be in serious trouble.

    The riots were connected in some small way to Teacher Blair Peach. I am desperately searching for photographs of his coffin being carried through the streets of Southall as I believe my estranged father was carrying the coffin.     Derek, Your message seems to be almost 10 years old so here's a short response..... I used to be the Secretary of the Old Feathers Association and organised a reunion all through the sixties. If anyone has been connected with this church in the past, perhaps they would be interested to know that it is to demolished and rebuilt. This will not happen for another year or so, but if anyone wants to come and visit the old place again, perhaps now is the time!

    I have vivid memories of singing in the school
    choir at the Kings Hall, in the late 50's.
    It is " was " a lovely place. I moved away in 1962
    but it is still a memory thar I will never forget.

Did you know?
The School still holds in its archives pupil admission cards with portrait photo, for those years.
There was concert and exhibition held in 1997 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of founding.
The School is 100 years old in 2007.
Little has changed internally.The assembly hall

    As far as I can remember the school on Western Road was fairly new in the 60's. It was a boys secondary modern then and nothing to do with Southall Grammar School. If you passed your 11 plus you went to Southall Grammar otherwise the boys went to Weston Road Secondary and the girls to another secondary school further along the road towards Hayes - just before Tiney Crescent turning I think.

    Biology teacher was Miss McLeish, who also ran the Badminton Club, so, if you took Biology, you had an automatic entry to the Badminton Club.

    I was at the school from 1947 till 1952...I can confirm Miss Bayliss was a maths teacher.

    This is a real blast from the past remembering all the staff - How about Mr Wignall(Maths) who was also our form Master - I was in the remove form where we were supposed to take our O-level exams in 4 years instead of 5 - only the government changed the rules so that in the 5th form we had to mark time for the year which was very boring as it consisted mainly of revision! Does any one else relate to this?

    I'm sorry but i can't help you trace your old school mates the only name i recollect is that of Fammer i went to Featherstone road with a Glenda Fammer i left in 1974 since then i have moved to Luton and lost contact with every one. i am trying to contact Paul Connolly and Martin Few they both lived in Western road.By the way the Glenda Fammer i knew also lived in Hammond rd.

    Scerm.I lived in Hortus Road,just the green side of the station.I delivered papers from honeys the paper shop at the top of Hortus road,and I well remember waiting for sweet deliverys,when they were still on ration.Did any old boys remember buying chips during the dinner hour.I would love to here from any old boys.

    featherstone school always had plaque inside entrance room..war memorial.hahnenfeld on it..wrote to them 2000 said still there but later letter back from them said moving..do not know if still there//should be..letter from monuments dept said southall could not afford to have names carved on memorial..heston did it stands opposite church my nans brother on it carved names

    I was there from '58 to '63 and in the alpha class in each year. My first term was the first opening of the new school in Western road. Names that spring to mind:- Colin Walker, Mick Ager, Billy Brooks, robin Hill, Johnny Eagle, Paul Little, Colin Rose, Tom Stratford, Peter Jackson, Jeff Emmett, Paul Benson, Frank Chidley.     the tomlin family were related to us ..locally..1940s ivy vera tomlin was married to my family alf lindsey 24 springwell rd heston .. row of cottages next to the big house..alf was at war..they had about 4 children couple boys.chidley were local family many generations lived next door to us rec southall cottages nora reenie born 1915 ish kept in touch to 1970s.most of my boys family went to feathers before 1950s

    Sorry Yvonne, I know of no Ivy Vera Tomlin in our family. Dad Tomlin started in Fulham, and mum was of Irish decendants. Although, my sister Sheilagh was married into the Butler family in St. Johns Road, Isleworth. Probably no connection.

    just shows how you can get two tomlin different families in same area.think she was tomlin locally they had not moved in from further afield..no butler.my husband butler ancestors cottage at east bedfont along by church late 1800s and probably before.so spread along feltham etc

Valerie was a senior year student in 1957/8 at Dormers Wells school. I lost touch with her that year (1958) though she kept in touch with my family for several years. My last knowledge of Valerie's location was Portsmouth - but now I have no idea at all.
