Howard Gordon McKenzie, 80

Howard Gordon McKenzie, age 80, of Dawson Township, Ontario passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at the Rainy River Hospital in Rainy River, Ontario.

He was born on January 22, 1923, in Blue Township to Willioughby and Lillian McKenzie. Howard lived in this area all of his life. He was united in marriage to Margaret Stinson on June 24, 1944. Howard loved to work the land and was an avid farmer as well as driving school bus for over 30 years. He enjoyed tinkering with things and had worked as a TV repairman and a mechanic. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, snowmobiling and listening to music in his spare time. He served as an elder to Blue Gospel Tabernacle Church and could be found picking up the children for Sunday School for many years. He truly loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren, having them in his life meant a lot to him.

He leaves behind his wife Margaret; children Shirley (John) Fehr, Jeanne Thebeau, Sheila (John) McIntosh and Richard (Kim) McKenzie; grandchildren Jerry Fehr, Tammy Ivall, Sherrey, Ginger and Michael Solmonson, Thristan and Liam McKenzie and Sydney McIntosh; great grandchildren Jessica Engels, Jasmine Fehr, Dyland and Alyssa Ivall; brothers-in-law Walter Peters, Rolly Bernatchez and Jim Stinson: sister-in-law Irene (Stinson) Orr and numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard was predeceased by his parents; sisters Lillian and Winnifred; 1 sister and 1 brother at birth; brothers-in-law Catherine Stinson and father-in-law Fred Stinson.

Funeral services were held on Saturday August 30, 2003 at 2 p.m at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Rainy River, Ontario. Pastor Gordon Armstrong officiated with interment in Blue Cemetery in Township of Dawson, Ontario.

The honourary pallbearers were Scott Gosnell, Fred Hartnell, Charlie Johnson, Frank Stoyka, Jack Medwechuk, Lee Johnson and Les Ivall.

The active pallbearers were Mike Ivall, Dean Peters, David Peters, Tim Gosnell, Bob Johnson and Dennis Selman.
