185. Alfred IVE was born on 13 April 1813 in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. He was baptized on 25 June 1813 in St Mary, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. He died on 11 July 1864 at the age of 51 in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Alfred was buried on 14 July 1864 at Holy Trinity in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. He had his estate probated on 30 July 1864 in Oxford, Oxfordshire.


At the time of his marriage in 1840 Alfred is described as a Wine Merchant.

Pigot's Directory for 1842 lists Alfred as landlord of the Greyhound in Market Place, Henley.

The 1847 Post Office Directory of Oxfordshire lists Alfred as a Wine and Spirit Merchant and Licensee of the Greyhound Inn in Market Place, Henley.

In 1851 Alfred, Anne and their sons Henry and (Charles) Frederick are living in Market Place Henley, Alfred is a Spirit Merchant.

The 1861 census has Alfred, his wife and son lving in Market Place, Henley-on-Thames, Alfred is described as a Wine and Spirit Merchant employing one boy

The following appears in the will indexes:-

"1864. Ive, Alfred. Effects under £8,000. 30 July. The Will of Alfred Ive
late of Henley upon Thames in the County of Oxford Wine & Spirit Merchant
deceased who died 11 July 1864 at Henley upon Thames aforesaid was proved at
Oxford by the oaths of Ann Ive of Henley upon Thames aforesaid Widow the
Relict, Charles Plumbe of Remenham in the County of Berks Gentleman John
Edwin Ive of Aldgate in the City of London Grocer the brother & William
Plumbe of Henley upon Thames aforesaid Draper the Executors."

Alfred IVE and Ann PLUMBE were married on 20 July 1840 at St Mary in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. John Simmons PLUMBE, Jane (Julia Rowe?) BILLINGHAM, Lucy Ann IVE and Emma PLUMBE were witnesses. Ann PLUMBE, daughter of John Simmons PLUMBE and Charlotte ALDWORTH, was born on 9 January 1819 in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. She was baptized on 8 February 1819 in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Death Registration: R.D. Eastbourne Vol 2b Page 53 between July 1892 and September 1892 . She died on 4 September 1892 at the age of 73 at 33 Pevensey Road in Eastbourne, Sussex. Ann was buried on 9 September 1892 at Holy Trinity in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Appears on the 1871 census living in the Market Place, Henley-on-Thames, her occupation is given as a Wine Merchant.

The 1891 census has Ann living in Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames, she is described as Living on own means.

The Times of 7th September 1892 carries a death announcement for Ann.

The following appears in the will indexes:-

"1892. Ive, Ann of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire Widow died 4 September 1892
at 33, Pevensey Road, Eastbourne. Probate granted at London on 8 October to
Alfred Ive & Henry Ive wine merchants. Effects £16869 6s 6d, resworn May
1893 £16657 12s 2d, resworn October 1893 £17557 12s 2d."

Charles Frederick "Fred" IVE was born on 24 April 1849 in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. He was baptized on 29 May 1849 in St Mary, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. He died on 6 May 1869 at the age of 20 in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Fred was buried on 11 May 1869 at Holy Trinity in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Appears on the 1861 census as pupil at Danes Hill Academy, Margate, Kent.

Francis Plumbe "Frank" IVE was born on 14 October 1854 in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Death Registration: R.D. Henley Vol 2a Page 484 between January 1885 and March 1885 . He died on 20 March 1885 at the age of 30 at Hart Street in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. He was buried on 24 March 1885 in St Mary, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Frank had his estate probated on 25 June 1885 in Oxford, Oxfordshire.
Appears on the 1861 census as a pupil at a school in George Green, Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire.

Appears on the 1881 census living at Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire he is employed as a Wine Merchant's Clerk, presumably working for his mother.

Francis sailed to Melbourne, Australia on 20th September 1883 and returned to England 2nd July 1884.

The London Times, dated 23rd March 1885, carries a death notice for Francis Plumbe IVE.
