20. William IVE was baptized on 20 April 1695 in St Peters, Burnham, Bucks. He was born in 1695 in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. He died on 2 November 1754 at the age of 59 in Harefield, Middlesex. William had his estate probated on 13 December 1754 in London.

The following marriage Licence is in the Guildhall Library (Guildhall Ref 10091/64)

"3 January 1723
Appeared personally William Ive of the Parish of Harwig in the County of Middlesex aged 30 years and a bachelor and alleged that he intends to marry with Susanna Nicolls of Hendon in the County aforesaid aged 23 years and a spinster. .... and prayed Licence to solemize the said marriage in the Parish Church of St Mary Magdalen Old Fish Street or St Anne & Agnes Aldersgate London."

There exists a manorial record for 1743 which records William as the tenant of Highway Farm paying an annual rental of £181.10s for 218 acres.

The following is a transcript of William's Will written in 1751:

The twenty ninth day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty one.

In the Name of God Amen I William Ive of the Highway Farm in the Parish of Harefield in the County of Middlesex Yeoman do make publish and declare this present writing to be my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking cancelling and making void all former and other Will Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made

And first I give and devise to my loving wife Susannah Ive all those two closes ????? or parcels of arable land meadow or pasture ground lying and being in the Parish of Burnham in the County of Bucks near adjoining and now occupied with my farm in the said Parish of Burnham called Horse Harness Farm and which is by me settled on my said wife as her ???????? together with the appurtenances to the said closes belonging and within said closes I lately purchased of my brothers Edward Ive and John Ive to hold to her my said wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from after her decease I give and devise the aforesaid two closes with the appurtenances unto my son John Ive his heirs and assigns forever

I also give and bequeath to my said wife the Bed Bedding and furniture of the Bed Chamber and also two dozen of pewter plates and six pewter dishes one brass potttage pot one brass bottle and such of her kitchen furniture as shall be necessary for her and she shall think fit to take and also the tea kettle and tea table and china ware ?????? equipage

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susannah Ive the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her in one year next after my decease

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne the like sum of one hundred and fifty pounds to be paid to her in two years next after my decease

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the like sum of one hundred and fifty pounds to be paid to her in three years after my decease

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha the like sum of one hundred and fifty pounds to be also paid to her in four years next after my decease if she shall then have attained the age of twenty one years

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the like sum of one hundred and fifty pounds to be also paid to her in five years next after my decease if she shall have attained the age of twenty one years

And if my said daughters Martha and Elizabeth or either of them shall not have attained their said age when the legacys aforesaid shall become due then I do hereby order and direct the legacys aforesaid so given to them to be paid as they respectively attain their said ages of twenty one years and my will and meaningis that in case any or either of my said daughters shall fortune to die before her or their legacy or legacys shall become due to be paid them I give and bequeath the legacy or legacys of her or them so dying to the survivors of them share and share alike or if but one living then to the survivor

And as to all the rest and residue of my ready money or moneys any wise due and owing to me my stock and other my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever or of what nature or kind soever the same shall be that I shall die possessed of interested in or entitled unto my will and mind is that my said wife shall be possessed of the same and have receive and take the interest produce and profits thereof to her own use until my said son shall attain to his full age of twenty four years so that she may be enabled to better the fortunes of her daughters aforesaid as she shall think fit

And I do hereby order and direct my said Executors to have all my said Stock Goods and Chattels valued and appraised and when my said son John shall attained his age of twenty four years then I do hereby give devise and bequeath all and every my Stock Goods Chattels and Personal Estate aforesaid unto him my said son John charged and chargeable nevertheless with the payment of his sisters legacys aforesaid in manner aforesaid and I do hereby order and direct her my said wife to deliver up the same to him my said son John at his said age of twenty four years to and for his own use

And lastly I do hereby make ordain nominate constitute and appoint her my said wife and my cozon John Ive Joint Executors of this my Last Will and Testament not doubting but they will do their utmost for the benefit of my children aforesaid in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and the day and year first above written ---- William Ive ----

This Will was proved at London the thirteenth day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty four before the worshipful Charles Pinfold Doctor of Laws surrogate of the Right Honourable ??????? ?????? Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Susannah Ive widow the Relict of the deceased and one of the Executors named in the said will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased having been first sworn duly to administer power reserved of making the like grant to John Ive the other Executor when he shall apply for the same.

William IVE and Susanna NICOLLS were married on 10 January 1723 at St Gregory by St Paul in London. An entry for the marriage appears in Boyds Marriage Index at St Gregory by St Pauls, London in 1723. Susanna NICOLLS was born in 1700. She died in 1761 at the age of 61. She was buried on 18 July 1761 in Harefield, Middlesex.

The following is a transcript of Susanna's Will:

In the Name of God Amen I Susan Ives of the Parish of Harefield in the County of Middlesex being indisposed in body but of sound mind and memory for which the Lord be praised considering the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof have made this my last will in manner and form following

And first I recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and for the Worldly Goods which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life I give and bequeath in manner following

I give to my daughter Elizabeth Chandler all my Goods and Chattels which I shall die possessed of with all my Wearing Apparel Plate Rings Money and all debts due to me to be to her the said Elizabeth Chandler and at her own disposal

Item I do hereby nominate John Chandler and Elizabeth his wife to be Executors of this my Last Will and Testament requiring them to pay all my debts and funeral expenses

And I do hereby utterly revoke and make void all former Wills by me made and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty sixth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine ---- Susan Ives ----

This Will was proved at London the twenty seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty one before the Worshipful George Harris Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Edward Simpson also Doctor of Laws Master ????? or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of John Chandler and Elizabeth Chandler wife of the said John Chandler the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first sworn to duly administer.

Susanna IVE was baptized on 9 June 1725 in Harefield, Middlesex. She was born in 1725. She died in 1802 at the age of 77. Susanna was buried on 8 August 1802 at St Mary the Virgin in Harefield, Middlesex.

This is a transcript of Susannah's Will written in May 1801:

I Susannah Ive formerly of Hillingdon now of Kensington Gravel Pitts in the County of Middlesex Spinster do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses to be fully paid and satisfied

And I give to my brother Mr John Ive the sum of Five Pounds over and above what I shall stand indebted to him at the time of my decease

And I give to my sister Mrs Elizabeth Chandler the sum of Twenty Pounds over and above what I shall be indebted to her at the time of decease

And I give to my nephew Mr John Millard of Cordwainers Hall London the sum of Twenty Pounds

And I give to my niece Mrs Elizabeth Smith wife of Mr James Smith the sum of Twenty Pounds

And I give to the said James Smith the sum of Five Pounds

And I give to my niece Ann King? two guineas over and above what I shall stand indebted to her at the time of my decease

And I give to my two nieces Ann Millard and Ann Hanington two guineas each

And I give all my wearing apparel to my said sister Elizabeth Chandler and my said nieces Ann King and Elizabeth Smith to be equally divided between them share and share alike

And as to all the rest and residue of my personal estate and effects I give and bequeath the same to my said sister Elizabeth Chandler and my said nephew John Millard to be equally divided between them

And I do hereby constitute and appoint the said John Millard sole Executor of this my Will revoking all former and other Wills by me at anytime heretobefore made
