48. Edward IVE was born in 1740 in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. He was baptized on 4 July 1740 at St Mary in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. He died on 8 January 1817 at the age of 77 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. Edward was also known as Edward IVES.

This is a transcript of Edward's Will

I Edward Ive of Langley Marish in the County of Bucks Gentleman do hereby revoke all wills codicils and other testamentary dispositions made by me at any time or times herebefore and do publish and declare this to be my last will and testament

I desire that my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and all the legacies which I shall give by this my will or by any codicil thereto or any other testamentary disposition shall be paid as soon as conveniently after my decease

I give and devise all and singular my freehold messuages cottages lands tenements and hereditaments situate at or near George Green in the parish of Langley Marish aforesaid and which were lately purchased by me of the late John B????ott Esq deceased with their appurts unto the use of my eldest son William Ive his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby declare that I have made no further provision by this my will for the said William Ive because I consider that he has already been amply provided for by his Grandmother

And as to all other my freehold lands and hereditaments in the parish of Langley Marish aforesaid I give and devise the same with their appurts unto and to the use of my son Edward Peter Ive his heirs and assigns forever

I give and devise all and singular my copyhold or customary lands tenements and hereditaments situate lying and being in the parish of Langley Marish aforesaid and which I have only surrendered to the use of my will with their appurtenances unto my daughter Ann Piper Ive her heirs and assigns forever but upon this express condition nevertheless that she my said daughter Ann Piper Ive her heirs and assigns do and shall permit my said son Edward Peter Ive if he shall think proper to occupy the said copyhold or customary premises for three years from Michealmas Day next after my decease at the yearly rent of fifty five pounds ????? of all deductions except for the present or any future tax upon property or ?????? to be payable quarterly on Christmas Day Lady Day Midsummer Day and Michealmas Day the first quarterly payment to commence and be made by the said Edward Peter Ive on the Christmas Day which shall happen next after my decease provided always and I do hereby declare that if the said Edward Peter Ive shall be willing and desirous of purchasing the said copyhold or customary premises for the sum of one thousand five hundred pounds and shall at anytime before the last six calendar months previously to the expiration of the three years from the said Michealmas Day next after my decease give to the said Ann Piper Ive her heirs or assigns six calendar months previous notice in writing of such his wish and desire then and in that case she the said Ann Piper Ive her heirs or assigns shall accept and take from the said Edward Peter Ive the said sum of one thousand five hundred pounds in full for the absolute purchase thereof and shall immediately upon the receipt of the said sum of one thousand five hundred pounds from the said Edward Peter Ive will and ???tually as the Counsel in the Law of the said Edward Peter Ive shall advise and require surrender or otherwise assure the said copyhold or customary premises with their appurts unto the said Edward Peter Ive his heirs or assigns or unto such other person or persons as he or they shall direct or appoint free from all incumberances made or committed by the said Ann Piper Ive her heirs or assigns upon the said copyhold or customary premises or any part thereof provided always and I do declare that if the said Ann Piper Ive her heirs or assigns shall neglect or refuse to comply with such condition as aforesaid or shall neglect or refuse after receiving such notice as aforesaid to accept the said sum of one thousand five hundred pounds for the purchase of the said copyhold or customary premises and to surrender or otherwise assure the same copyhold or customary premises in manner aforesaid then and immediately after any such neglect or refusal I give and devise the said copyhold or customary premises with their appurtenances unto my Jane Ive and my said sons Edward Peter Ive and John Piper Ive their heirs and assigns forever in equal shares as tenants in common and not as joint tenants

Whereas my said wife Jane Ive is seized or entitled to a certain freehold messuage and other hereditaments situate at Horsemoor Green in the parish of Langley Marish aforesaid the rents of which are by my permission paid into her own hands or applied upon her own ???????? and private account and it may happen that she the said Jane Ive now has or hereafter may make some considerable savings by and out of the said messuage and other hereditaments now I the said Edward Ive do declare all my right title and interest of in to or out of the same messuage and other hereditaments and of in to or out of all savings now made or hereafter to be made by the said Jane Ive by and out of the same and do hereby give and bequeath the same savings unto her the said Jane Ive her executors administrators and assigns accordingly for her and their own absolute use and benefit

And whereas my said son John Piper Ive now stands indebted to me in several sums of money amounting in the whole to the principal sum of one thousand eight hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain now I do hereby acquit release and forever discharge the said John Piper Ive his heirs executors adminors and assigns and his and their estates and effects whatsoever and wheresoever of and from payment of the said sum of one thousand eight hundred pounds and every part thereof and I give and bequeath the said sum of one thousand eight hundred pounds to the said John Piper Ive accordingly I also give and bequeath to the said John Piper Ive the sum of five hundred pounds of like lawful money and I do hereby declare that if the said John Piper Ive shall at anytime during my life pay off or discharge the whole or any part of the said sum of one thousand eight hundred pounds then I do hereby give and bequeath unto the said John Piper Ive in addition to the said sum of five hundred pounds hereinbefore bequeathed to him such sum and sums of money as shall be equal in amount to the sum or sums of money which shall have been so paid off and discharged by him as aforesaid and also acquit release and forever discharge the said John Piper Ive his heirs executors adminors and assigns and his and their estates and effects whatsoever and wheresoever of and from so much of the said sum of one thousand eight hundred pounds as shall remain due to me at the time of my decease and accordingly give and bequeath to the said John Piper Ive the sum so remaining due

I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Ann Piper Ive the like sum of five hundred pounds of like lawful money

And I give and bequeath unto my said wife Jane Ive the sum of one thousand pounds of like lawful money

And I also give and bequeath to my said wife Jane Ive all my household goods and household furniture plate linen china wearing apparel boots shoes wines and other liquors and also my chaise and harness and my best chaise horse

And I give to my said son Edward Piper Ive my leather case lined with silver

I give and bequeath unto my friend John Trelawney of Russell Square in the County of Middlesex and my said son William Ive their executors adminors and assigns the sum of sixty pounds a year Bank Annuities part of a larger sum now standing in my name in the Books of the Governor and Company of the bank of England upon the trusts hereinafter mentioned concerning the same (that is to say)

In trust for my said wife and her assigns during her life and after her decease in trust for my said children Edward Peter Ive John Piper Ive and Ann Piper Ive and their executors adminors and assigns in equal shares and proportions

And as to all and singular other my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever and not heretofore devised and as to all and singular my personal estate and effects not hereinbefore bequeathed I give devise and bequeath the same respectively unto my said wife Jane Ive and my said children Edward Peter Ive John Piper Ive and Ann Piper Ive and their respective heirs executors adminors and assigns according to the nature and quality of the same premises respectively equally to be divided between them as tenants in common and not as joint tenants charged and chargeable nevertheless with the payment of my just debts legacies and funeral and testamentary expenses

And I appoint my said wife Jane Ive and the said William Ive and John Trelawney Executrix and Executors of this my will provided always and I do hereby lastly declare that the Trustees Executrix and Executors of this my will shall not be charged or chargeable for the others or other of them or for any Banker or other person in whose hands any part of the said trust monies shall be lodged for safe custody or for any loss or damage whatsoever which shall happen in the execution of the trusts or executorship of this my will without their respective wilful default neglect or collusion and that the said Executrix and each of them the said trustees and Executors may deduct retain to and reimburse herself and himself out of the trust monies which shall come to her or his hands all such costs charges and expenses as she or he shall or may sustain expend or be put unto in or about the trust or executorship of this my will

In witness whereof I the said Edward Ive the testator have to this my last will and testament contained in five sheets of paper set my hand and seal that is to say to the first four sheets ????? my hand and to this fifth and last sheet ????? my hand and seal this nineteenth day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven ---Edwd Ive---

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of Edward Ive of Langley Marish in the County of Bucks Gentleman which will bears date the nineteenth day of April one thousand eight hundred and seven

Whereas since the date and execution of my said will I have received in exchange from Mr Richard Moore a piece of freehold land containing half an acre or thereabouts situate in the Common Field of Langley Marish aforesaid called Church Field abutting North on stables belonging to the said Richard Moore East on Land and a Cottage belonging to my wife Jane Ive West on freehold lands now belonging to the Reverend Charles Morris and lately conveyed or intended to be conveyed to the said Jane Ive in exchange for that half acre of copyhold land in West Field which said copyhold land hath been surrendered or is about to be surrendered to the use of the said Charles Morris and South in part by lands occupied by Mr Robert East

Now I do hereby give and devise the said piece of land as received or intended to be received in exchange me aforesaid with the appurtenances thereto belonging unto and to the use of my dear wife the said Jane Ive her heirs and assigns forever

Whereas in and by my said will my son Edward Peter Ive has the option of purchasing within the time therein limited for the sum of one thousand five hundred pounds the copyhold or customary lands tenements and hereditaments in and by my said will devised to my daughter Ann Piper Ive her heirs and assigns now I do hereby declare that my said son Edward Peter Ive shall not have the option of purchasing the said copyhold or customary premises for less than the sum of two thousand pounds and that the said copyhold or customary premises shall upon my decease be held by my said daughter Ann Piper Ive upon the same terms and conditions and subject to the same provisions and declarations as the same would have been held upon and subject to if my said son Edward Peter Ive had by my said will had the option of purchasing the same for the sum of two thousand pounds instead of the said sum of one thousand five hundred pounds

And I do hereby subject and charge my freehold messuages cottages lands tenements and hereditaments in and by my said will devised unto my son the said Edward Peter Ive his heirs and assigns with their appurtenances with the payment to my son John Piper Ive his executors adminors and assigns of the sum of six hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain at the expiration of twelve calendar months after my decease and I do hereby declare that it shall be lawful for my said son John Piper Ive his executors or administrators at the expiration of the said twelve calendar months after my decease by mortgage in fee or for years of the premises so charged with the payment of the said sum of six hundred pounds as aforesaid or any part thereof or by with and out of the rents and profits of the said premises or by any other reasonable ways and means to levy and raise the said sum of six hundred pounds with interest for the same after the date of five pounds for every one hundred pounds by the year to be computed from the expiration of the said twelve calendar months from my decease

And I do hereby declare that I have increased the sum at which my said son Edward Peter Ive shall have the option to purchase as aforesaid from the said sum of one thousand five hundred pounds to the said sum of two thousand pounds and that I have charged such freehold premises as aforesaid with the said sum of six hundred pounds in consequence of the great increase in the value of land since I made my said will and for no other reason whatsoever

And I do hereby in all other respects ratify and confirm my said will in witness whereof I the said Edward Ive the Testator have to this a Codicil to my said last will and testament and which I ????? may be taken as part thereof set my hand and seal this eleventh day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven --- Edwd Ive --- signed sealed published and declared by the said Edward Ive the testator as and for a codicil to his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto

Proved at London with a codicil the 2nd August 1817 before the worshipful Maurice Swabey Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oaths of Jane Ive widow the Relict and William Ive the son two of the Executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn to duly administer power reserved to John Trelawney the other Executor when he shall apply for the same

Edward IVE and Jane PIPER were married on 24 September 1772 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. Jane PIPER, daughter of John PIPER and Anne GOODWIN, was born in 1742. She was baptized on 29 November 1742 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. She died on 10 November 1821 at the age of 79 in Langley, Buckinghamshire.

Ann Piper IVE was born in 1775 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. She was baptized on 15 October 1775 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. She died on 14 March 1826 at the age of 51. Ann was buried on 22 March 1826 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. The following is a transcript of Ann Piper Ive's will:

In the Name of God Amen I Ann Piper Ive of Langley Marish in the County of Bucks Spinster being of sound mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament as follows

I give and bequeath to the five children of my late deceased brother John Piper Ive five hundred pounds each to be paid then as they shall severally attain the age of twenty one years and in case any or either of them should die before they may have attained the said age of twenty one years then their share or shares to be equally divided between the survivors of them and I direct that the shares of those who are under twenty one years of age be put out to use for their respective benefits

I give and devise all those my copyhold lands which are now in the occupation of my brother Edward Peter Ive to my said brother Edward Peter Ive his heirs and assigns forever

I also give and bequeath to my said brother Edward Peter Ive one half share of my household furniture

I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my estates real and personal Freehold and Copyhold and whatever also I may die possessed of to my brother William Ive his heirs and assigns forever

And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my said brother William Ive sole Executor to this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all will or wills by me at any time made declaring this to be my last in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of March in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six ? James IVE was baptized on 9 February 1777 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. He was born in 1777 in Langley, Buckinghamshire. He died before 1807 at the age of 30. James is not mentioned in his father's Will written in 1807 so it is assumed he died sometime prior to this date.
